ABOUT US
Importing of GAS GAS motorcycles into Australia was started by Andy Derwent in 1991.
Andy imported a GAS GAS DELTA 250cc Trials bike which was the first water cooled model produced by GAS GAS and was successfully ridden in competition by Richard Kent. This bike is now in our possession awaiting restoration.
Andy continued growing the business of importing bikes and spares to supply the increasing Australian Demand. He also began importing Hebo clothing & accessories.
Andy approached Ben, one of our sons, in 1994 to see if he was interested in riding a Gas Gas in local competition to further show the capabilities of these machines. Naturally he didn't have to wait for an answer, and that was the start of OUR GAS GAS journey. Due to the help Andy had given Ben and the fact that Mal decided he needed a new bike, we purchased a matching pair in 1995. From then on it was 2 bikes per year.
In July 1999 we purchased the business from Andy and established GAS GAS MOTOS AUSTRALIA.
We have had a very steep learning curve on the business management side of things as neither of us had a business background or been involved in importing.
Mal has always been involved in motor cycles since he first brought home a BSA Sloper when he was 12.
He first discovered the joys of riding Trials in 1968, and has been involved for most of the years since. He has a vast amount of experience in all things mechanical therefore can offer a wealth of technical advice.
We supply GAS GAS Trials bikes, spares and accessories Australia wide from our one central Warehouse, therefore keeping costs to a minimum .As demand grows this may change.
We enjoy and feel that it is very important in our sport to have a personal approach and it is working for us in our business.
